For a long time, things have been dead quiet around The Elder Scrolls 6, but according to journalist and Microsoft insider Tom Warren, that could change soon.
Oh, The Elder Scrolls 6, when will we finally get to see you? After all, Skyrim will soon be celebrating its 15th anniversary! But it’s precisely on that date that we might actually learn more about Bethesda’s upcoming role-playing game. At least that’s what one insider claims, and he’s also providing brand-new information about The Elder Scrolls 6.
Is The Elder Scrolls 6 closer than we thought?
The leak about The Elder Scrolls 6 comes from Tom Warren. The well-known journalist is considered well-informed and well-connected when it comes to Microsoft and Xbox. In the past, for example, he correctly predicted the reveal of *Doom: The Dark Ages*. So it’s not at all unlikely that Warren actually has insider information. Nevertheless, as is always the case with leaks, we should, of course, take them with a grain of salt.
But what exactly is there to look forward to? On The Verge, Warren writes the following:
Sources familiar with Bethesda’s plans tell me that the Xbox-owned publisher will soon announce that the next Elder Scrolls game will officially be called Sentinel. The announcement could come as early as next month, around the time of Skyrim’s 15th anniversary.
So far, so exciting: We might learn more about The Elder Scrolls 6 as early as November! Additionally, the game is reportedly actually titled Sentinel. Bethesda itself had recently fueled speculation about the title. It’s unclear, however, whether this could be a major reveal with a new trailer or if Bethesda is planning more of a small marketing stunt, similar to the Xbox head’s visit in August.
An Elder Scrolls game about The Elder Scrolls?

The story is said to revolve around the Elder Scrolls—the very artifacts that give the game series its name. These are ancient and powerful artifacts that appear time and again throughout the games.
Sentinel will be the first game to explore the history of the Elder Scrolls and help uncover the secrets of these mysterious, ancient artifacts.
Exactly what that means isn’t entirely clear: after all, the Elder Scrolls were already a major theme in the main story of the previous game, Skyrim. For example, we learned that the dragon Alduin was once banished to the future using one such artifact.

However, the scrolls may play an even more central role in the narrative of The Elder Scrolls 6. If we’re meant to uncover their secrets, perhaps the key lies in learning how to read them: after all, that’s not so easy and requires special training. Even then, some people go blind while attempting to decipher one of these artifacts.
The scrolls contain records of events from the past, present, and future. Is that what their secrets refer to? Or is the goal to discover the origin of the scrolls? After all, their origin remains unknown in the lore so far. The Scrolls of the Ancients are said to be fragments of Creation itself, but it’s unclear who created them or for what purpose. This could get exciting!
For now, we’re left with mostly speculation about the story of The Elder Scrolls 6. Answers may come around November 11. We’ll keep our eyes open for you, of course. If Bethesda does surprise us with an announcement, we’ll let you know as soon as possible.
In the meantime, we can speculate a little more. For example, a Skyrim developer recently shared his thoughts on what he believes could be the major new mechanic in The Elder Scrolls 6. The name “Sentinel,” which Tom Warren has now also brought up, fuels two of my biggest hopes for the RPG. You can read about both in the link box above.
