Franzi checked out the new Edgerunners side quest, the Glamdocs, and the new weapon ability. Now she’ll tell you whether it’s worth revisiting Night City.

Howdy, Choomba! I’ve already racked up over 250 hours of bionic action in Night City—I’m currently on my third playthrough and, as a former Corpo parasite, I’m making a name for myself as a mercenary.& nbsp;It fits like a glove that CD Projekt Red, right on the heels of the release of Edgerunners 2 on Netflix, coolly dropped the Update 2.5 to really heat things up!

So I spruced up my gear and checked if it’s worth it to dive back into the swamp that is Night City. A fresh side quest with mercenary legend Weak Kingsley, Glamdocs, and a perk in the skill tree that makes me want to put on my cowboy hat right away? Damn. Yeah, Choom—count me in!

  • 1 – Highlight: The new combat ability
  • 2 – Highlight: The Glamdocs
  • Clampdown could have been a lot better

1 – Highlight: The new combat skill

If you had asked me before my gaming night which new feature I’d like the most, I would have told you 100 percent: Of course, the new side quest “Clampdown”!

But now my answer is surprisingly different: The new ability “Double Trouble” in the Coolness talent tree. Here, I get the chance to equip two pistols or revolvers at the same time and shoot my way through a confrontation with double the firepower.

It feels pretty satisfying to suddenly point two weapons right in an opponent’s face. Just like Jamie Foxx in the final showdown of Django Unchained, I take out one goon after another.

I do have one small comment, though: It would be even cooler if each weapon had its own fire button. That would make the whole experience feel even more immersive, and I could use the pistols separately from one another. For example, if I’m in stealth mode and only have one weapon with a silencer, I don’t immediately draw the attention of all the enemies around me. But I still have to aim with some button or another, after all.

    2 – Highlight: The Glamdocs

The Glamdocs are the second thing that really surprised me in a very positive way. That’s because CD Projekt Red didn’t just pop some random NPCs into the buildings—each one has a real personality and a little backstory.

For instance, in downtown Night City, I’m immediately threatened by robots with guns at the Glamdoc called The Styliste, or in Santo Domingo, I get caught in the middle of a family feud. I had so much fun with the banter that I stopped by every single Glamdoc in Night City.

There, you can customize the design and color of your cyberware (Mantis blades, Gorilla arms, Monowires, rocket launchers). If you love exploring every nook and cranny of Night City and soaking it all in, it’s definitely worth investing some of your precious time here.

The new side quest could have used a similarly thoughtful design, because it actually left me pretty disappointed.

Clampdown could have been much better

For the new side quest, I have to complete the main missions “The Coup,” “Love like Fire,” and “Playing for Time,” as well as two jobs for the fixer Wakako Okada in Japantown. After a while, I get a message from her connecting me with the mercenary King, aka Weak Kingsley—one of the main characters from Edgerunners 2.

The quest takes place before the events of Season 2, and I’m supposed to meet King near the BuryGer diner in Santo Domingo. Here comes the first disappointment: He doesn’t show up in person—he just calls me. My mission is to free one of his crew members from the prison across the street.

Clampdown is actually pretty nice; it kept me entertained for about 30 minutes, but it’s really only worth playing to get King’s legendary outfit and his tech revolver, Coronation. Especially his snazzy red glasses look pretty cool—Robert Downey Jr. probably has a pair like that in his eyewear collection, too.

At the end, there’s a small final boss waiting—one I have absolutely no emotional attachment to, who was never mentioned before, and who feels more like just another Cyberpsycho mission from Regina Jones. I wasn’t expecting a massive quest, but it would have been much more fun just because of a video game version of King. The mercenary didn’t even get a proper call screen.

How about you guys? Have you played Cyberpunk 2077 again since the 2.5 update? Or are you still planning to? Feel free to let us know in the comments.

I’m heading back to Dogtown now—I’ve still got a lot to do there, and Reed keeps bugging me to come back.
