The fact that Lucia has visible scrapes in the artwork is most likely more than just a nice graphical detail.
GTA 6 is already wowing fans even before its release with plenty of realistic details, and somehow there just seem to be more and more of them.
Many of the game’s concept art pieces feature the two main protagonists, Jason and Lucia. Of course, you can deduce things like possible outfits, weapons, or car models from these—but one specific detail is easy to overlook. On many posters, Lucia has scrapes on her knee, and that might reveal more about the game than expected.

And the first speculations about what this might mean have already started rolling in. It would be pretty boring if the artists behind it had simply chosen these scratches just for the sake of aesthetics.
User SlartyMcGuarty sees a connection between the wounds and Lucia’s clothing: “Yeah, if you wear shorts and run around a lot, you constantly get unexplained scrapes and bruises, haha.” Even if that’s meant as a joke, there might actually be something to it.
As User ConflictPotential204 notes in another comment, GTA 6 apparently has a mechanic that explains minor injuries like these. That would make sense, since Jason also shows in some artwork has minor injuries.
According to Italian YouTuber MikeShowSha, who was present at the playtest session with co-studio head Rob Nelson, minor impacts during combat—such as from tasers and falls—are said to cause visible injuries.
[Another police officer chased us and fired the Taser], which brought [Jason] to the ground and inflicted damage on him—that is, truly realistic wounds and scrapes on his elbows.
Instead of generic scrapes that simply reflect a decreasing health bar, injuries will likely tell the exact story of what happened to our protagonists. But even outside of combat, Jason and Lucia’s appearance is meant to reflect what you do to them.
As reported by A report by Dazed describes how, for example, you can tell when the two characters haven’t slept in a while or have been living on fast food:
“Food affects Jason and Lucia’s weight, while exercise visibly builds and tones their muscles. And if you spend a long time away from home, on the run from the police, or indulging in alcohol for days on end, your appearance will suffer as well.”
MikeShowSha also discusses Jason and Lucia’s different fighting styles. While Jason relies primarily on weapons like bats or his fists in close combat, Lucia is skilled in kickboxing and mixed martial arts. That could also be an obvious explanation for the frequent scratch marks on her knees. The martial art she learned from her father emphasizes physical contact, and that shows.
The fact that Lucia knows how to defend herself likely served her well during her childhood as well. After all, she presumably spent her childhood in Liberty City while a certain criminal was on the loose there. You can read more about this and other details regarding GTA 6 in the link box above.
