A new shooter pitting 50 against 50 in the jungle leads an astonishingly packed release week.

August isn’t traditionally a time for major blockbusters, but this week on Steam has a clear standout: One of the most famous tactical shooter series on PC is leaving its familiar setting for the first time and venturing into a completely new environment.

The week’s lineup is also more diverse than you’d expect in the middle of summer: From automation and turn-based tactics to survival horror and a revived classic from the ’80s, just about every genre is represented.

As we do every Monday, we’ve rounded up all the major releases for you.

The highlight of the week: Hell Let Loose: Vietnam

Genre: Tactical shooter – Developer: Expression Games – Release: August 13, 2026 (

Important to note upfront, as this could cause confusion:Hell Let Loose: Vietnamis not a DLC, but a standalone game.

The basic framework, however, remains the same as usual: 50 players per side, divided into squads, not as hectic as Battlefield and less clunky than Arma, plus 17 roles ranging from commander to medic and sniper to tank crew. If you run off without coordinating with your team, you’ll die quickly and pointlessly here, too. The change of setting doesn’t change that.

The jungle still brings some new elements: For the first time, U.S. forces get operational helicopters for fire support and resupply, while the North Vietnamese Army digs extensive tunnel networks to appear where no one expects them. Both sides can send armed patrol boats through the river network.

There are also new movement options: swimming, climbing, fast crawling, and pulling wounded comrades out of the line of fire. At launch, six large mapsare included, based on real-world locations. This is manageable, but it matches the scale at which the main game launched back then.

A pre-order promotion offering a 10 percent discount runs until the game’s release on Thursday; the game uses Easy Anti-Cheat at the kernel level, and the German localization is limited to the menus. The voice acting is exclusively in English.

More Exciting Steam Releases of the Week

  • Pax Autocratica (Early Access) :This title blends two genres that normally have nothing to do with each other: You build a totalitarian colony, manage citizens through propaganda, surveillance, and punishment, and then storm battlefields filled with infantry, tanks, and mechs in first-person perspective. You can bring back captured enemies and re-educate them into followers. The developer plans to keep the game in Early Access for about two years.

  • The Severed Gods (Early Access):A turn-based tactical roguelite whose combat system relies on elevation zones: Each enemy has body parts across three levels, which you can break through and sever individually to take down massive titans piece by piece. At launch, there are five heroes, three worlds, and over 80 relics, though there is no German translation available yet.

    • Echoes of Mystralia (Early Access) :Borealys Games returns to the world of Mages of Mystralia, this time as an action roguelite. The spell-crafting system is back as well: you combine memories to create your own spells, from thunderbolts to fire whirls. At launch, three regions, seven elements, and over 100 modifiers await.

    • Agent 64: Spies Never Die:A lovingly crafted tribute to GoldenEye and the N64 shooter era. Fourteen missions with different objectives for each difficulty level. The campaign even supports split-screen co-op, and the PvP multiplayer allows up to eight players online or locally on a split screen.

    • Warhounds: This mercenary game, in the style of XCOM and Jagged Alliance, deliberately does away with dice rolls and instead relies on real-world ballistics, destructible cover, and line-of-sight cones. Between missions set in Africa in the year 2035, you manage your base, budget, and alliances. A German version will not be available at launch.

    • Luminary (Early Access): A two-person team has created a deliberately accessible action RPG for up to three players, where your character carries over between solo and co-op sessions. In addition to combat, the game features mining, fishing, and the reconstruction of a town. The demo was very well received by players, though only half the map will be playable at the Early Access launch.

      • Agefield High: Rock the School:Bully meets a teen movie à la American Pie. In a small, handcrafted open-world setting in the U.S. of the early 2000s, you attend classes or skip them, earn money on the side, and work toward pulling off the big prank at the end of the school year. About eight to ten hours of story, 32 main missions, and two endings await you.

      • Security 51:Papers, Please in an SCP setting: As a security guard in the underground bunker of Area 51, you check IDs, clearance levels, and statements, and decide who is allowed to enter the elevator. Later on, fingerprint and blood tests are added to the mix, because at some point it’s no longer clear whether the person in front of you is even human anymore. Wrong decisions sometimes don’t come back to haunt you until shifts later.

      • Low-Budget Repairs:As a handyman in 1990s Poland, you maximize your profits by diluting paint, leaving the level in the car, and taping over holes instead of patching them.

      • Duskfade:In this 3D action platformer, you’ll jump, climb, and fight your way through enchanted forests, underwater realms, and deserts to rescue your sister from a clock tower that has plunged the land into eternal night.

      • Servant of the Lake:As a newly hired servant at the Vanderbooms’ estate, you’ll tackle everyday tasks in this point-and-click adventure—tasks that transition surprisingly quickly from doing laundry to much darker activities.

      • Sandustry (Early Access):Sandustry combines Factorio-style automation with a 2D world in which every single pixel is physically simulated: sand trickles, liquids flow, and your mining towers visibly dig their way through the ground. You’ll build production chains, explore procedurally generated worlds, and stumble upon the remains of an ancient civilization.

      • Clawed: A dinosaur park that has seen better days, and you’re right in the middle of it. This survival horror game features a Classic Mode and a Survival Mode with hunger, thirst, day-night cycles, and random dinosaur encounters. It includes puzzles in the style of older Resident Evil games, as well as online co-op.

      • Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns:To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the Amiga classic is getting a re-release with three modes. Retro Mode looks just like the original, Classic Mode polishes up the visuals and gameplay, and Kingdom Mode turns it into a roguelite with deck-building and dice battles.

      • Lootbound: A tactical roguelite where the actual gameplay takes place inside your backpack. Items don’t have fixed slots; instead, they rotate and shift, enhancing adjacent items. So even a single centimeter in your inventory can determine your entire build. In combat, you only control your hero—your companions act on their own.

      • Static Dread: The Submarine: As the right-hand man of the captain of a nuclear submarine, you assign tasks, analyze sonar signals, and keep the crew sane. But something is lurking out there… and it’s probably not an enemy submarine.

Was there anything for you this week? Nostalgic gamers are in for a real treat with the Defender of the Crown remake and the GoldenEye commemorative shooter, and Warhounds is sure to sound exciting to many of you as well. Or are you more drawn to the Vietnamese jungle? As always, feel free to let us know in the comments!
