The remake of the role-playing game is set to be released on June 5, 2026. We won’t be able to provide our review until the release date—and we’ll be publishing it in stages.
Khorinis, here we come! There are only a few days left until the release of the Gothic Remake, which, after several delays, is now set to launch on June 5, 2026. Which brings us to the million-dollar question:
Hey GlobalESportNews, when is your review actually coming out?
We’ll give you a little peek behind the scenes of our editorial team and share our current plan with you.
Patience until just before release
The most important fact:We haven’t received any review keys yet.So we can’t play the Gothic remake in its release version yet and, logically, can’t test it either.
The preview version available to us still had some technical issues, which the developers say will be fixed. Most importantly, however, it only consists of a small part of the game; the Swamp, New Camp, Orcland, and other areas are completely inaccessible in it. It is therefore not suitable for our test. You can find everything there is to say about the preview here:
Our testing process can therefore only begin once we receive the keys. A quick glance at the calendar makes it immediately clear: we don’t have much time left until the release, especially since we must, of course, ensure compliance with labor laws despite our enthusiasm. A weekend and the public holiday on June 4 are also getting in the way.
We expect the review embargo to be lifted shortly before or on the release date. Therefore, we are currently anticipating the following schedule:
- On release day, June 5, our testers will provide you with first impressions based on their gameplay up to that point. This will give you an initial buying guide right from the start.
- After that, we’ll test the rest of the game thoroughly but efficiently. Our final rating is expected to be released the week after launch. We can’t give you an exact date yet.
Who is testing the game for you?Our lead tester for GlobalESportNews is Steffi, with Kevin as her co-pilot. Of course, other editorial team members are also participating in the testing phase or preparing exciting follow-up articles for you, such as Heiko, Tillmann, and Fabiano. We’re also in close contact with our video team, where Jonas is in charge of Gothic. We’re also working closely with the GamePro team. Many people are working to bring you a comprehensive review.

We know that for many of you, Gothic is more than just another role-playing game getting a reboot.Gothic and the GlobalESportNews community share a special relationship that has existed for 25 years. For many of us, too, the original Gothic is a game close to our hearts that has had a massive impact on us.
That’s why we don’t want to rush out a review just to gain a slight edge in the race for the top Google ranking. Instead, we’ll take the time needed to explore the game down to the last corner of the Old Mine, try out the three factions, and, of course, scrutinize the new features closely. Just as you rightly expect from us, and just as a Gothic game deserves.
We’re just as eager as you are to finally find out what’s going on in the new Old Mine Valley. After the last preview, we were cautiously optimistic, but important questions remained: Will the AI of the characters and monsters be improved further? How do new elements like climbing, cooking, and improved diving fit into the overall picture? Will the final act be meaningfully improved and expanded?
Thank you very much for your patience. We’ll see you very soon in the Colony.
