The new game from the creators of Thief sends you back to the early 20th century, but the trip will apparently be a short one.
Originally, the new game from Thief creators Paul Neurath and Warren Spector was supposed to be a PvP multiplayer game. To the delight of longtime fans, OtherSide Entertainment has abandoned that plan. Instead, Thick As Thieveswill be a single-player adventure that you can also experience with a friend in co-op.
By now, not only are the release date and the surprisingly low price known, but also the scope of the game. Now the price tag isn’t such a surprise anymore.
A little adventure
What is Thick As Thieves? The spiritual successor to the Thief games is a stealth adventure in which you can choose to venture alone or with a friend into a fictional Scottish town of the early 20th century, wheretechnology and magic collide. As a member of the Thieves’ Guild, you’ll undertake various heists, loot valuable relics, and uncover the secrets of the mysterious town of Kilcairn.
You’ll be aided not only by various tools like smoke bombs or the powerful pickpocket fairy, which lets you steal important items from the pockets of guards and other characters without being noticed. Once you’ve got your loot, you must leave the city safely, or the mission will fail.
Low price …: When we saw that Thick As Thieves costs just 5 euros, we initially thought it was a typo. We would have expected 25 or 50 euros for the spiritual successor to Thief. But then we read the section on the game’s scope.
… limited scope: You can expecttwo maps where you canplay a total of 16 missionsand unlock six tools. According to OtherSide Entertainment, this will take youat least four hours. That explains the low price.
But there’s more: The developers plan to expand Thick As Thieves with additional maps, missions, and other content. It’s not known to what extent you’ll have to pay for this. Given the low purchase price, however, that’s likely.
Thick As Thieves will be released on May 20, 2026, for PC.On Steamyou can already add it to your wishlist. Versions for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will follow later.
Also coming in May is the new James Bond game 007: First Light, in which stealth also plays an important role. Our editor Paul has already had a chance to play the game and is thrilled so far. You can find the in-depth preview in the link box above.
