The Butcher is considered the most ruthless boss in Diablo 4. Now, players have apparently found a trick that helped take down the boss 30 years ago.
Diablo players have been trembling in fear of the Butcher ever since thefirst game in the seriesfrom 1996/1997 (it was apparently released on New Year’s Eve). The boss is considered particularly cruel and has made life difficult for legions of demon hunters ever since. And of course, the nasty Butcher is back in the latest installment, Diablo 4.
But as early as 2023, players have apparently found a trick for taking down the merciless monster with ease, without taking any damage. And the best part: The trick is ancient.
Door closed, it’s drafty!
Even in the first Diablo, there was a way,to trap the Butcher behind a closed door and then leisurely beat him down until his health bar was depleted. And apparently, this still works perfectly in Diablo 4, 30 years later.
On Reddit, numerous users shared videos of themselves slowly but surely finishing off the boss trapped behind a closed door. No matter how much the Butcher grunts—he has no chance of dealing damage through the door. The exploit only works in one direction.
“Fresh meat? Not me,” writes one of the Reddit users quite correctly.

If you want to know how players dealt with the Butcher back then, we have a video here with10 Ways to Defeat the Boss in Diablo 1—including the door exploit. Alternatively, you can watch our editor Michael Grafik’s personal story about his experiences with the bloodthirsty boss here:
We want your opinion: What do you think of exploits like this? Would you use them, for example, because the Butcher is a bit too tough for you? Or do you consider cheating to be a dishonorable method? What are your experiences with the Butcher in general? Have you defeated him several times, or not even once? Feel free to share all your stories and thoughts on this in the comments.
