Part 4 of the Metro series has finally been officially announced, and the reveal is set to take place very soon.

4A Games and Deep Silver haveon YouTubea short teaser in which they officially announced Metro: 2039, the fourth installment in the post-apocalyptic shooter series. But that’s not all—they also revealed when more information will be coming, and it’s coming damn soon.

It starts this week

OnApril 16, 2026, at 7:00 PM German time, 4A Games and Deep Silver, in collaboration with Microsoft, will launch a special event titledXbox First Look. The game will be unveiled there.

What can we expect? There isn’t any concrete information yet, but you can at least expect gameplay and initial details about the story. The announcement of a release date or at least a release window is also likely. At this point, we don’t have any information about the game yet, so it’s definitely going to be pretty interesting.

What is Metro?

Metro is based on the novel series of the same name by Russian author and journalist Dmitry Alexeyevich Glukhovsky. The series tells the story of a group of survivors who hide in the Moscow Metro after a nuclear apocalypse and must fight for their survival every single day.

The games combine a dark atmosphere and a serious story with crisp shooter and survival elements. The first installment, Metro: 2033, was released in 2010, followed by Metro: Last Light in 2013. The latest installment to date,Metro: Exodus, was released in 2019 and is therefore already seven years old.

All three games earned ascore of at least 85 points from us, so expectations for Metro: 2039 are correspondingly high.

Just one day after the unveiling of Metro: 2039, the sci-fi shooter Pragmata is set to release. While it’s significantly less dark than the Metro series, it still doesn’t skimp on intense combat.
