We haven’t heard anything about State of Decay 3 for almost two years. Now, upcoming playtests suggest that the game is still in development.
After all, the dead live longer, especially at Easter. And zombies also avoid the grave. Even if the long radio silence is worrying, it’s fitting that the apocalyptic adventure is rising from the dead right nowState of Decay 3.
After almost two years, there has been another sign of life from the game, which is nowpromising some alpha playtestsfor which you can sign up. All the information can be found in acurrent blog entry.
How to register for the alpha tests
Developer Undead Labs has announced thatState of Decay 3 will soon be conducting some playtests:
You’ve all been incredibly patient, and we hope you’re as excited as we are that the time has finally come to share State of Decay 3 with you. We want to make it clear right up front that this first round of playtesting will be limited, but we plan to share our findings and feedback with everyone over time.
And if you don’t make it into this first group, you can be sure there will be more opportunities throughout the year.
So there will be several attempts at such tests to gather as much player feedback as possible and incorporate it into development. Regular updates and mood pictures were already the studio’s strategy for the predecessors.
Please note that you will need to provide your email and Discord account to participate,as well as fill out a short questionnaire. The survey in particular is crucial in order to be shortlisted for the test. However, if you don’t make it in, you will be given further opportunities.
The zombie sequel was originally announced at the Xbox Showcase in 2020, with the latest information available around two years ago. The series stands for intense survival action with optional co-op in an end-time scenario with the undead.
The focus is not on the fate of the individual, but on the idea of building a colony together. You make targeted use of the settlers’ strengths and sometimes have to reckon with their (tragic) demise. Little is known about part 3, but a multiplayer game for four players will be included again.
