Shadowrun is one of the great pen & paper role-playing games, but you don’t hear much about it these days. Anyone who wants to give it a try now has the chance to do so.
Nowadays, many people think of cyberpunk role-playing games first and foremost as the world of … well, cyberpunk! So Cyberpunk 2020 by Mike Pondsmith, on which Cyberpunk 2077and the current tabletop rules edition Cyberpunk Redare also based, for example.
But before CD Projekt Red brought the world of Cyberpunk 2020 back to the fore with their role-playing game,Shadowrun was actually the role-playing game par excellence in the pen & paper community if you were in the mood for a dystopian future.
Herefantasy and cyberpunk settingsmerge into a huge universe. It is a skillful combination of Dungeons & Dragons and Night City, with orcs, elves, magic and futuristic technology. If this sounds interesting to you, then it’s worth taking a look at the current Humble Bundle!
The complete (!) 4th edition of Shadowrun currently costs just 23 euros.
Almost 100 books
The gigantic bundle at Humble includes all publications for the 4th edition. Incidentally, this also includes the reissued rulebooks from the Anniversary Edition from 2009. In total, a merchandise value of around 800 euros is offered here.
As always with Humble, the more you pay, the more content you unlock. You have to pay at least 5 euros and have all the content from 23 euros. If you want, you can voluntarily pay more and support a good cause.Here is a very rough overview of what you can expect in each of the paid tiers:
- From 5 euros:If you pay the entry price, you get 24 Shadowrun books straight away. These include lots of rule expansions, but also the basic rulebook required to play the game.
- From 14 euros:At the second level, you get a total of 45 items. Here you can expect lots of prescribed adventures.
- Ab 23 euros: If you pay this much, you will have unlocked all 90 books in the bundle. The centerpiece of this tier is the large campaign called Missions.
What you should keep in mind
So if you’re planning a big game in the Shadowrun universe, this bundle has you covered for now. Incidentally, the 4th edition is also one of the most popular in the Shadowrun community, although as is so often the case, it also depends on personal taste. It’s definitely not the latest one!
If you want to play Shadowrun in its latest version, you’ll have to switch to the 6th edition – which is a little controversial. Also, as always, don’t forget that the Humble Bundle is all digital content! So you only get all the books as PDFs and only in English.
