“After a year and a little more…”

Fans have been speculating for a long time, but now it’s official: Hades 2 will soon be leaving Early Access. As developer Supergiant Games announced during the latest Nintendo Direct, version 1.0 will be released on September 25 September – simultaneously for Nintendo Switch, the upcoming Switch 2, and Windows PC.

The launch of Early Access in 2024 surprised many when the game suddenly appeared on Steam and the Epic Store without much advance notice. Now Supergiant is repeating this coup and promising a similarly exciting finale to the test phase. Switch players in particular have something to look forward to, as the new Switch 2 supports 120 frames per second, while the normal Switch still manages 60 fps.

An important detail: those who have already played on PC don’t have to start over. Thanks to Cross Saves, previous game scores can be transferred directly to the console versions – a convenience that many fans would have liked to see in the predecessor.

From updates to the grand finale

Supergiant already hinted in the summer that the game was entering the home stretch. With the so-called “Unseen Update” in June, they promisingly stated that they were “very excited to be so close to the full release.” Shortly thereafter, two more patches announced as “final” followed, further rounding out the gameplay.

Expectations for the second installment are high. Even in early access, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many players saying that Hades 2 was at least as captivating as its acclaimed predecessor. Now Supergiant wants to prove that the long period of fine-tuning was worth it – and that a sequel can not only keep up, but even surpass its predecessor.

With a fixed release date in September, Hades 2 could become one of the hottest titles of the year. And for many fans, one thing is clear: if the developer delivers on its promises, this sequel could even achieve the rare feat of being even better than the original.
