The release of Borderlands 4 did not go entirely smoothly. Now there is a graphics card guide from the developers.
The new co-op shooter Borderlands 4 was finally released last week and, in our review, it’s particularly impressive in terms of gameplay.
However, many players are experiencing technical problems, especially on PC, which is why the developers have now published a comprehensive guide.
Borderlands 4: Guide for Nvidia GPUs released
Among other things, the technical problems have led to mixed Steam ratings despite high player numbers. The biggest criticism is the poor optimization. Many users complain about low FPS despite powerful hardware.
Even the system requirements were surprisingly high given the cel-shaded look. In addition, 2K and Gearbox have not revealed which resolutions and frame rates are targeted with the minimum and recommended requirements.
The developers have now addressed this in a comprehensive optimization guide :
- Minimum requirements: 1080p @ 30FPS with low settings
- Recommended requirements: 1440p @ 60FPS with medium settings
The guide also includes large tables with the best graphics settings for 18 different Nvidia graphics cards. These are divided into 1080p, 1440p, and 4K and break down from the RTX 2070 to the RTX 5090, showing which graphics settings get the most out of each GPU.
So if you’re also experiencing technical problems, it certainly can’t hurt to take a look at the guide. However, it should be noted that the shaders must be recompiled after each change. It takes about 15 minutes of playtime to see whether performance has actually improved.
Here are the reactions: On Steam, and the feedback has been rather mixed. Many users write that the developers should optimize their game themselves, preferably before it is released.
Overall, frustration and disappointment prevail, with several players stating that they have requested a refund and warning others against purchasing the game. Those who do not have a high-end computer should be prepared for problems.
