Order is slowly returning to the realm of chaos – but not in the way fans had imagined. The “Tides of Torment” DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3 was supposed to be released this summer. Instead, there is now silence. At least before the storm.

Creative Assembly has officially postponed the planned expansion. No new release date, no preview – just a brief statement that the DLC does not currently meet the company’s quality standards. According to the team, internal tests raised questions about whether “Tides of Torment” would maintain the level of previous releases. The answer: “In short, no.”

And the anticipation was high: the studio had already teased the first content in the spring. In addition to the snake-like demon Dechala (Slaanesh), Sayl the Faithless was also set to appear as a warlock for the Norsca faction.&

Two completely new factions, two fresh ways to play – and a touch of fan service for Chaos veterans. But that won’t be happening for now.

Total War: Warhammer 3 – DLC delay affects Tides of Torment

The new schedule is vague: Creative Assembly does not expect a release until autumn – October at the earliest. Instead, they want to revise other core systems before then. Improvements to sieges will be tested in July, followed by long-overdue adjustments for Necrolytes and Lizardmen in August. The Orcs will also receive a skill update.

The studio will not be able to focus fully on the major 7.0 update, including Tides of Torment, until September. One small consolation: the team is apparently working intensively in the background on balancing, performance, and game depth – things that often get lost when only new content counts.

And in case you forgot: the slasher reference in the title is no coincidence. Just like in a good horror movie, Tides of Torment doesn’t hit you when you expect it. It hits you when you least expect it – with a twist that hits harder than ever before.
