Rumors have been swirling for a long time about a successor to Ubisoft’s successful tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege – but now we know better. Instead of Siege 2, Siege X was released on June 10, a major update that is intended to prepare Rainbow Six Siege for the future after more than ten years.

The update was greeted with a flashy trailer, as Ubisoft has been beating the advertising drum loudly. It is said to be the most extensive update ever for the shooter. Although the new content is limited, with a new game mode being the main addition, a lot of work has gone on under the hood. All game mechanics have been reworked and the graphics have also been revamped.

On top of that, you can now play Rainbow Six Siege for free. The developers have switched to a Free2Play model. However, new operators still cost money. So you not only have to pay for cosmetic content, but also for new characters.
