Some Starfield players are quite unhappy that no new content was announced for the space exploration title during the recent Xbox Games Showcase 2025. With leaks of a second Starfield expansion surfacing last year, some gamers were confident that they would see Bethesda’s game on the show, and were greatly disappointed by its absence.
Starfield has been a divisive game ever since it released in 2023. While the title received mostly positive reviews from critics, gamers had divided opinions on it, citing the lack of engaging content as one of its major faults. Since then, Bethesda has released sporadic Starfield updates, with some of them adding major content additions like a new vehicle, but most of the time, its patches have mostly focused on fixing bugs, balancing the gameplay, and improving stability. Last year, Bethesda also released the “Shattered Space” expansion DLC for Starfield, which got mixed reviews.
Soon after Starfield was completely ignored in the recent Xbox Games Showcase 2025, however, fans went to social media to voice their concerns about the game’s future. In multiple posts, gamers complained that they had high hopes for the showcase, only to be disappointed by the lack of news. Another gamer, for example, complained that Bethesda seems to only focus on the Creation Club these days, and wouldn’t be surprised if the developer “abandoned” the game.

The disappointment is understandable, especially when considering the rumors regarding Starfield’s second expansion. Last year, a few rumors surfaced, indicating that Bethesda could be working on a new DLC called “Starborn,” as parent company ZeniMax trademarked the brand. Also, executives such as Todd Howard revealed that there were plans to add more content to the space exploration game, so gamers were already expecting a new Starfield DLC expansion to be released sometime in 2025. In any case, it’s still possible that the DLC, or even a big free update, could be released soon, just not likely, as nothing was announced in Xbox’s major showcase.
Rumors of Starfield’s PS5 port have also ramped up in the last few weeks. While nothing has been officially announced yet, rumors from insiders claim that Bethesda intends to officially unveil the PS5 port of Starfield soon and release it closely after the announcement, which could still happen in 2025. It remains to be seen, however, how long it’ll take for Bethesda to port the game to PS5 and to release more meaningful content to keep its fanbase engaged with the title.
