Call of Duty Black Ops 7 is presented for the first time as a direct sequel – and its trailer is reminiscent of sci-fi films such as Matrix and Inception.

The Black Ops series is entering the next round – and this time with a premiere: Call of Duty Black Ops 7will be the first direct sequelwithin the Black Ops series. Treyarch and Raven Software want to create the “most mind-bending” Black Ops experience yet, according to the official announcement – and the teaser trailer already promises a lot in this regard.

What to expect in CoD Black Ops 7

Black Ops 7 picks up where Black Ops 2 and 6 left off and transports you to the year 2035:A world on the brink of chaos, dominated by high-tech weapons and psychological warfare, forms the grim backdrop. A manipulative enemy uses fear as his most powerful weapon – and you must face him.

Below, we summarize everything we know so far about the next installment in the series:

  • Setting & Story:The year is 2035, more than 40 years after Black Ops 6, in a world torn apart by conflict and psychological warfare. David Mason leads a team in the fight against a manipulative enemy who uses fear as a weapon.

  • Campaign:For the first time in the Black Ops series, you can play the campaign in co-op – but you can also play solo, of course.

  • Multiplayer:The popular multiplayer mode returns with new maps and futuristic weaponry.

  • Zombies:Black Ops 7 introduces the next round of Horde mode.

  • Gamepass: Like Black Ops 6, the new CoD will be available on Microsoft’s subscription service from day one.

  • Platforms:Coming to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC (via Battle.net and Steam).

CoD General Manager Mat Cox emphasizes in the announcement:

The Black Ops universe is simply incredible. The creativity and imagination that goes into the story, the rich characters, and the incredible gameplay across all modes are truly exceptional. As a team, we’ve had a vision from the start to deliver a seamless series experience that reflects the uniqueness of the Black Ops sub-series.

The road to the full reveal of Black Ops 7 begins with the teaser released today. Activision promises more details and surprises for summer 2025. So we can expect a comprehensive presentation including gameplay footage in the coming months.
