In the depths of Bohemia in the late Middle Ages, historical authenticity and narrative ambition merge in “Kingdom Come Deliverance 2” like in few other role-playing games. Those who have been exhausted by tavern brawls, intrigue, and questions of faith will soon be confronted with a completely different adventure: an artistic one. Warhorse Studios has announced the first major expansion, which brings a mysterious painter into the game.

When gaming becomes art: An unusual assignment awaits you

In the upcoming DLC “Brushes With Death,” you’ll find yourself in a dark side story surrounding Master Voyta, an enigmatic artist whose work carries a deeper meaning He seems to have lost his muse, and you must help him find her. But in keeping with the complex storytelling of KCD 2, this becomes much more than a simple collection mission. Voyta’s story unfolds in multiple directions, offering moral choices and deep insights into medieval artistic life.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: DLC brings shield painting and more freedom

What makes the new DLC special is not only the story, but also a creative gameplay enhancement: shield design. With the update, players can add their own patterns, colors, and symbols to their shields The available emblems are not simply unlocked – you have to earn them as you progress through the game. Main quests, hidden locations, and important dialogues can unlock new designs. It’s a clever system that combines visual feedback with real progress.

The DLC is expected to be released in mid- to late May 2025 and will be accompanied by Update 1.3. This will add mounted archery, horse racing, and more intense combat, especially in the region around Kuttenberg. The developers want to not only expand the game, but also make it more dynamic and challenging.

“Brushes With Death” is more than just an expansion – it’s a sign of how Warhorse Studios is continuing to refine its role-playing game without forgetting its roots. A DLC that is intended for history buffs, tacticians, and creative minds alike.
