Assassin’s Creed Shadows quickly established itself as a big hit after a bumpy launch. After several delays, fans were finally able to step into the shoes of protagonists Yasuke and Naoe on March 20 and explore the open world of Japan. The game not only became the best-selling title of the year so far, but also impressed the trade press: a Metascore of 81 speaks for itself. The fact that the user score on Metacritic is significantly lower at 6.3has less to do with quality than with exaggerated discussions.

Particularly exciting: despite isolated criticism, thousands of players on platforms such as Steam rate the adventure as “very positive.” If you count yourself among the fans, you should mark April 30 in your calendar. Ubisoft is planning a special presentation on that day that will offer a glimpse into the future of the game. What surprises await the community is being kept secret for now – and that’s exactly what’s fueling the anticipation.

A short clip on X (formerly Twitter) already hints at what’s to come: Community developer Daniel St. Germain announces that the release of Shadows is just the beginning. The developers plan to reveal concrete details about their plans for the coming months soon. The video ends mysteriously – a developer covers the camera and emphasizes: “It’s not finished yet.” There are many indications that Ubisoft has more in store than just minor updates.

What Ubisoft could reveal now – and what fans are hoping for

On April 30, the post-launch roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows will finally be revealed. This overview is expected to outline all upcoming content, from expansions to possible new game modes. The expansion “The Awaji Heist” is currently the subject of much speculation, with fans eagerly awaiting further details. Perhaps players will soon be able to start a new chapter alongside their heroes.

But there could be even more in store: Attentive users have discovered hints on the PEGI website that Shadows may also be coming to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Although there has been no official confirmation yet, the rumor mill is in full swing. If Ubisoft does take this step, Assassin’s Creed Shadows would make history as one of the first major AAA games for the new Nintendo console. The excitement is building – and April 30 could be a decisive turning point for the future of the game.
