LG will present a 45-inch display at CES 2025 that can be bent.
In about a week, the Consumer Electronics Show will once again be taking place in Las Vegas. CES 2025 is traditionally considered the kick-off for the coming year in technology, so numerous manufacturers will be attending this year’s show. From January 7 to 11, a large number of new products will be presented.
The South Korean company LG will also be attending CES 2025 with a number of monitors – including the model called 45GX990A. This screen wants to stand out in two ways:
- According to the LG press release, this is the world’s first “5K2K bendable OLED monitor”. To a certain extent, you can transform the screen from a flat to a curved display; the maximum curvature should be 900R.
- The “5K2K” resolution, meanwhile, refers to 5,120 x 2,160 pixels – you already know the vertical from the 4K resolution, while the 5,120 pixels in width elevate the monitor to a widescreen display in 21:9 format.
According to the manufacturer, the choice of format offers better compatibility than 32:9, but increases immersion compared to common 16:9 screens. In addition to this, LG explains that the 45GX990A will feature an improved RGWB panel that improves text readability.
Otherwise, the LG 45GX990A should also have an unspecified dual mode. This allows you to switch back and forth between different combinations of resolution and refresh rate at the touch of a button. However, LG does not provide any exact details about the options.
- In the press release, the company does mention support for Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync, which has now become established as standard, particularly in high-priced monitors.
- In terms of connections, it is known that HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 will be supported. There is also a USB-C port that supports up to 90 watts via Power Delivery.
A price and release date have not yet been announced. These details, along with further technical data, are expected to follow at CES 2025.
