The first trailer for the upcoming movie has met with little approval from fans. Numerous memes are circulating online, and one fan has now even recreated the video in the game

A few days ago, the first trailer for the upcoming movie adaptationof probably the most successful game of all time was released. But despite a strong star cast including Jack Black (Jumanji) and Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones)the promotional video was apparently not so well received by Minecraft fans. The trailer collected 1.3 million negative ratings on YouTube within four days.

The strange CGI design of the animals and the oddly stilted dialog alienated many players and brought back memories of the first teaser for the 2020 Sonic movie, the design of which was eventually revised after heavy criticism from the community.

As a result, the Minecraft trailer involuntarily became a meme within a few hours. In posts on Twitter and Tumblr, players let off steam about both the visuals and the lines of text. We have included a selection of the reactions below

The Minecraft movie if the render distance were realistically mapped.

I’m telling you: The Minecraft movie will have a scene where Jack Black gets punched in the soft parts and says ‘Ahrg! My blocks!” because he has blocks for soft parts and the joke is that his soft parts are square.

Optics in focus

Many viewers wonder why director Richard Hess chose to pursue theoverdrawn mix of real film and CGIinstead of simply realizing the film in Minecraft game optics – so does 3D artistAlumio

The Minecraft fan took it to the extremeby recreating the entire trailer in game graphicsand uploading it to YouTube. The sound is the same as in the trailer, but the animation consists entirely of game assets. Creeper, llamas and sheep included

The video was celebrated by the community on YouTube and Twitter. Many users said in the comments that they thought Alumio’s version was much better than the original trailer. Some fans even called for the artist to create a full version of the film in a real Minecraft look as soon as it is released in cinemas.

The Minecraft community doesn’t seem to have much use for well-known Hollywood stars Fans seem to prefer the blocky look of the original game. Perhaps director Richard Hess and production studio Warner Brothers will consider reworking the look of the film a little
