The new F1 2021 builds on the very good basic framework of F1 2020 and also delivers some innovations on the technical side. Among other things, Codemasters has added ray tracing reflections and ray tracing shadows to the racing game and also offers DLSS version 2.2.9 on compatible systems.

The new ray tracing options are of course reflected in the hardware requirements and the maximum FPS. Nevertheless, we recorded both games in the maximum settings for this comparison video, even if F1 2021 then runs significantly slower in places. Without ray tracing, however, the two games achieve almost identical performance values.

The Candyland test system:

Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor 3.70 GHz
Ram: Corsair DDR4 Vengence 32.0 GB
Graphics card: ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 TUF Gaming 10G
Mainboard: ASUS TUF B550-PLUS
Hard disk: Intel SSD 660p 2TB
OS: Windows 10 Pro
