The makers of Sniper Elite announce their latest project. Atomfall brings the post-apocalypse with mechs and cults to the United Kingdom – and the mix makes you curious

English castles, mechs, radioactive mutants and a dash of British comedy: No, it’s not Fallout: London.Atomfallwas freshly announced at the Xbox Summer Showcase and is attractingthe attention of Fallout and survival fans with its wild mix

What is Atomfall about?

For the story, developer studio Rebellion (Sniper Elite, Zombie Army) is taking the real-life Windscale incident from 1957 as a model, the first major reactor accident. Back then, a fire broke out in a British nuclear reactor, releasing a huge cloud of radioactive material. The fire was classified as a level 5 serious accident on the seven-level International Nuclear Event Rating Scale.

What if we were to continue this storyin a fictitious quarantine zone à la Stalkerand continue spinning it? This is exactly where Atomfall comes in

In the trailer, we see an artistic contrast between the picturesque postcard landscapes of the small British town and a retro-futuristic society with 1950s flair, as we already know it from the Fallout games.

As players, we pursue the dark secrets in the zone. In addition to the government with its military mechs and conspiracies, we also have to deal with folk legends, mysticism and a cult. And all this while we loot in order to survive. According to the developers, our actions will even have an impact on the course of the story.

Atomfall is set to be a survival action game and will be released sometime in 2025 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and 5. Xbox Game Pass owners can even start playing from day one
