The gaming handheld comes with a small keyboard or a second screen. The look is strongly reminiscent of Nintendo’s old console.

The trend of flip or foldable electronic items now seems to have arrived in handhelds as well. As the name suggests, you can retract the screen via a flip mechanism. The mini PC is therefore visually very reminiscent of a Nintendo DS, which was released in Europe in 2005.

Ayaneo Flip – handheld with 2000 vibes

The handheld manufacturer has now announced the first technical information. The handheld runs the Windows operating system and is supposed to get two different models: one with keyboard and screen and one with a second screen in the style of the Nintendo DS.

On the bottom are classic controller elements like analog sticks, buttons and the typical ABYX keys.

The special feature: In the center of the lower half of the console you’ll find a keyboard like an old flip phone. The model will be appropriately called Ayaneo Flip KB (Keyboard).

The keyboard is a regular QWERTY keyboard.

Alternatively, there is a variant with a second screen. The model is called Ayaneo Flip DS (Dual Screen). Instead of a keyboard, a small second screen sits in its place.

You probably won’t have much choice in terms of color. The console will probably be released in the colors black and white.

Handhelds or classic gaming PCs? Of course, both parties have their respective advantages and disadvantages. But handhelds offer a good alternative for those who don’t like to slog through tech sheets and don’t want to screw around with their own PC. Those who perhaps don’t have much time for gaming can also just jump right in. What do you think of the new Flip variant? Does it also remind you strongly of Nintendo’s old consoles? Would you buy Ayaneo’s handheld PC for around 800+ Euros? Feel free to write us your opinion in the comments.
