Arrr! Ubisoft seems to have bitten off more than it can chew in the pirate genre. While Skull & Bones is still in development hell, another game featuring buccaneers is being dug up again. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is set to get a remake.
Whipping waves and sea shanties from rough pirate throats – Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is still one of the favourites of the series for most fans. Those who want to return to the world of the 18th century buccaneers once again can look forward to good news.
(Because according to Kotaku) the game, which is now ten years old, is to receive a remake. Its development will be entrusted to Ubisoft Singapore, which is said to have already advanced the series’ marine technology.
Meanwhile, along with the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake, 11 titles in the series are in development. These include Mirage , due out in October , the VR experience Nexus , Codename Red , set in Japan , and Codename Witch . They are also planning the mobile spin-off Jade and a Netflix format. Only time will tell to what extent the franchise will be further exploited in multimedia.
