All info about Frontiers of Pandora

Release: When will Frontiers of Pandora be released?

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be released on 7 December 2023

Platforms: For which platforms will Frontiers of Pandora be released?

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is coming out for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Amazon Luna

The game will probably push our hardware quite a bit to the limits. So be prepared to need latest tech

Gameplay: What can we see of Frontiers of Pandora so far?

Ubisoft has released a six minute gameplay video explaining the story, world and features in detail. Watch it right here:

Content: What kind of game will Frontiers of Pandora be?

It will be an action-adventure with an open world, which we will experience from the first person point of view, optionally in single player or in online co-op. The open world is of course the moon Pandora, which we already know from the movies and earlier Avatar games. This time we play a native Na’vi, not a human in the body of Avatar.

Our enemies are the humans from the RDA, who mine valuable resources on Pandora with no regard for the complex ecosystem. They kidnapped us as children and trained us to be soldiers, so we know how to use human weapons and speak their language.

We now help our Na’vi comrades in the fight against the RDA and learn to fly on Ikrans, ride Pa’li (“horses”), take planes out of the sky with a bow and much more.

Canon: How does the game relate to the movies?

The game tells its own, new storybut is part of the official canon. It is said to be set around the same time as Avatar 2, i.e. shortly after the return of the humans to Pandora. A few old acquaintances will show up, such as General Frances Ardmore on the side of the RDA.

What to expect in the film: What Avatar 2 is actually about and whether it is worth going to the cinema, has been discussed by editor Vali in a detailed review of the film

When will Avatar continue in the cinema? After the huge success of Avatar 2: The Way of Water, the planned three sequels will also be released, but later than initially planned. Avatar 3 is scheduled to hit cinemas in 2025 and feature a completely new species of fire Na’vi. Avatar 4 and 5 will then follow on schedule in 2029 and 2031.

Developers: Who is developing Frontiers of Pandora?

Massive Entertainment, Ubisoft Düsseldorf and Ubisoft Shanghai are responsible for the development, with Massive (Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Far Cry 3, The Division 1 and 2), as the main developer.

The film studios Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney are also involved. The studios are facing a daunting task, because so far all Avatar games have been nice entertainment at best. A real blockbuster has to offer a lot more:

Finally, Ubisoft has let slip many details about their Avatar game. We’re now interested in: What are your thoughts on Frontiers of Pandora so far? Is your scepticism predominant or have you been looking forward to the new open-world game for a long time? Will the game be able to live up to its high expectations? Write it in the comments!
