After Cache, the next map classic awaits us in Counter-Strike 2. This time it goes to a Greek island.

After map creator FMPONE announced the comeback of the popular map Cache on Twitter only on April 9, now follows another classic that was probably already forgotten for many fans.

Comeback after seven years

With the announcement of Counter-Strike 2, news reaches the community almost daily about improvements, changes and new content that should await us in the CS:GO successor.

FMPONE, the creator most famous for his map cache, has now spoken out again on Twitter and announced the return of the competitive map Santorini.

In contrast to Cache, he already presented first images that are quite respectable. In particular, the light and shadow effects are well accentuated by the new Source 2 engine and once again set the map apart from its predecessor from CS:GO.

Santorini was added to CS:GO in November 2015 and already removed from the game files again in October 2016. Since then, the map has been more or less forgotten and could only be played via the Steam Workshop.

Santorini’s comeback didn’t come without an announcement, though. In a poll on April 9, FMPONE had its community vote on what name its “new” map should have. The choices gave a more than clear indication of the Greek island.
