The return of Cal Kestis and BD is delayed. EA and Respawn have pushed back the release date of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to April 2023 at short notice

A shake up in the Force, but thankfully only a small one: The release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been postponed at short notice. Cal Kestis will now only return on 28 April 2023 and not on 17 March as originally planned. This has been officially announced by EA and Respawn Entertainment.

Why Jedi: Survivor is delayed

Why the delay? In a statement on (Twitter) the people behind Jedi: Survivor announce that they are currently in the final development phase of the game. In order to make a smooth launch possible and at the same time meet the expectations, the developers want to take more time now.

The team wants to use the additional time of six weeks in total to fix bugs, increase performance and stability and polish the game in general. This means that the new release date of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be 28 April 2023.

Gameplay: Like Fallen Order, Jedi: Survivor will be a rather accessible mixture of Soulslite and Metroidvania. The main focus will be on combat and exploring different planets. Cal Kestis is even said to have five different fighting styles in his latest adventure – for example, wielding two lightsabers at the same time and even using a blaster.

What are your hopes and expectations for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: Are you looking forward to the return of Jedi Knight Cal Kestis and BD-1 or could you do without them? Are you suspicious of the release delay, or are you relieved that the developers have been given extra time to polish? Let us know in the comments!
