Gone are the days of a free-roaming USA: Ubisoft”s The Crew 3 is set in Hawaii, putting it in direct competition with an open-world heavyweight in the racing game genre.

The Crew 3 is coming – but it”s called Motorfest and is set in Hawaii, more specifically on the island of O”ahu The first trailer above introduces the new setting of the MMO racing game, whose predecessors made a name for themselves in the past with a more or less realistic recreation of the entire mainland USA.

So now Ubisoft is moving the series to one of the overseas territories of the United States. Judging by the first images and impressions available so far, The Crew: Motorfest is moving more in the direction of the Forza Horizion series than the first two parts: The speedster action becomes colourful and the campaign focuses on the event character of the new motor festival. With tracks in the rainforest, in the city of Honolulu or on the ash slopes of a volcano, there should be plenty of variety. As before, you can complete events either solo against the AI or with human players, but you always have to be online. The Crew: Motorfest again relies heavily on social features.

As the makers revealed to us in an interview, powerboats and planes will be available again in The Crew 3. A closed beta test will start on 1 February, with which Ubisoft wants to collect feedback from the most loyal Crew fans. Interested players can register (via the Insider Programme).

The release is roughly planned for 2023, developer is again the French studio Ivory Tower. On PC, Motorfest will be available to buy from the Ubisoft Store and Epic Games Store at the same time, versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S as well as the previous console generation are to be released.
