Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 – Update brings long-awaited changes to loadouts and buy stations

Developer Raven Software brings long-sought changes to Warzone 2.0 with an update, responding to two of the biggest criticisms of the Warzone Caldera sequel.

Shortly after the release of the Season 1 Reloaded update, developer Raven Software has released a patch that has made a long hoped for change to the Buy Stations and Loadout drops in Warzone 2.

Major Changes

Help from an unexpected direction befell the Warzone 2.0 community on December 16. Developer Raven Software not only corrected a bug from Infinity Ward with the release of a new update shortly after the release of Season 1 Reloaded, but also responded to two of the biggest criticisms in Warzone 2.0 and increased the number of loadout drops and buy stations on the Battle Royale map Al Mazrah.

The Season 1 Reloaded update had unintentionally reduced the number of Buy Stations, which was reversed a little later with the new patch. In addition to this, the number of Buy Stations  has even been doubled, which now makes it much easier to find one at all without having to drive halfway across the map to do so, only to be beaten down by campers.

The second big change concerns the Loadout Drops These now already come with the second circle instead of with the third as before. Loadouts thus come much earlier in the game and allow more players to actually get them.

It’s getting slow

At the beginning of the beta of Warzone 2.0, it was actually planned to let the loadouts disappear completely from the Warzone Caldera successor. However, after massive criticism from the community, the developers rowed back and reintroduced them shortly before the release of the Battle Royale shooter.

Many see these changes as a step in the right direction and hope that Warzone 2.0 will also become more attractive for casual players. Until now, players have had to rely on taking strongholds or waiting for the rare loadout drops in the third circle.

The former, however, could be avoided in most cases, as both streamers and warzone pros often occupied them at the start of the game, leaving no chance for the average player to get their loadout.

CoD leaker GhostOfHope is already speculating under Raven Software’s tweet that the changes were made primarily for financial reasons.

It’s pretty obvious that even though the number of Strongholds has already been increased with Season 1 Reloaded, many casual [players] just aren’t getting their loadout and thus blueprint sales aren’t as high as Activision would like. A data and money driven change.

Regardless of whether or not he is correct in his assumption, ultimately the community benefits from the changes. Many of the comments under Raven Software’s post celebrate the developer studio for the improvements and hope that they will now make more of an impact on Warzone 2.0.

The studio has already been involved in the development of Modern Warfare (2019) and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, earning points with the community especially with the latter.
