Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is to get a new map and mode in the style of Rocket League to celebrate the World Cup, according to insiders.

In keeping with the World Cup, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will also revolve around football. This is what insider Tom Henderson reported on Thursday, according to which a Rocket League-style mode is planned.

A new map also seems to be planned for the new mode in Modern Warfare 2. Both the map and the new mode are expected to be called “CODball”. According to Henderson, this is to celebrate the World Cup in Modern Warfare 2, which starts on Sunday in Qatar.

Apparently dataminers got hold of some pictures of the new mode. They show players driving an ATV inside a football stadium. Similar to Rocket League, CoD fans apparently have to use the vehicles to get a ball into the opponent”s goal. How many players:inside are on the field at the same time, however, is unknown.

The “Modern Warfare FC” event will also see Neymar Jr, Paul Pogba and Lionel Messi appear as operators in Modern Warfare 2. According to Henderson, the game mode “CODball” will come into play at the same time as the footballers appear in the shooter on 21 November. However, Activision has so far kept mum on official details about the mode.
