Loadout drops will be back in Warzone 2.0 after all, but in a slightly different way than we’ve been used to in Warzone so far.

After being sorely missed in the first public playtest during the CoD Next event in Las Vegas, it seems that the popular loadout drops, which have been a key element in Warzone, will now be available in Warzone 2.0 in a modified form.

Loadout drops – different, but the same?

The disappointment in the Warzone community was great after they learned during the CoD Next event that the developers were not planning any loadout drops in Warzone 2.0. A short time later, due to the huge headwind from the community, there was then the roll backwards.

On Twitter, CoD leaker Metaphor claimed that there would be loadout drops in Warzone 2.0 after all, along with various other changes.

For more than a month, there was no new information on the issue. On 6 November, two more leakers confirmed the reintroduction of loadout drops in Warzone 2.0, but in a different way than previously known from Warzone.

Instead of collecting money to buy a drop at a buy station as before, the loadout drops will be exclusively world drops in the future. This means that the equipment deliveries will be dropped at random locations and can be collected by anyone.

A similar mechanic already exists in the predecessor Warzone. Here, there are also loadout drops at random locations that are dropped depending on the current zone.

Camper olé

If this is indeed the only way for players to get their loadouts, the random drops will be a real treat for any camper. As can be seen in leaked images, it is quite possible that the drops will be dropped in “inconvenient places” to say the least.

So if you want to get your loadout, you may have to take a big risk and, as can be seen in the picture, scramble up a ridge in open terrain and make yourself a target.

Whether this will remain the only option to get one’s pre-made loadout in the future remains to be seen. However, it seems as if the developers want to attach more importance to the ground loot and loadouts are to become rarer. Also, the perks included in the loadouts such as Spirit, Battle Scout or Cold Blooded will automatically become rarer as a result and can make the decisive difference especially at the end of a match.

In the end, the question is what use Buy Stations will still have in Warzone 2.0. During the CoD Next event, players could only buy individual weapons without attachments. Whether other items such as armour plates, self-resurrection or drones will be added remains to be seen.

However, one should not forget that the demonstration in Las Vegas was a very early version of Warzone 2.0 and many things may simply not have been implemented yet.
