Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn will be an action role-playing game where you fight hordes of undead. In the new trailer we finally also see new locations of the open world.

In a new trailer, the action role-playing game Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn shows a large portion of its gameplay and above all provides new insights into its open world. We briefly introduce the game and trailer.

What kind of game is Flintlock?

  • Unusual scenario: In Flintlock, malevolent gods return to the world of the living, bringing with them a vast army of undead that we must, of course, fight. Visually, the game relies on a mix of styles and creates a rather unique look.
  • Action role-playing game: Fighting plays a big role in Flintlock. While our fluffy fox companion Enki teleports across the battlefield and paralyses enemies for us, we finish them off with powerful combos. Meanwhile, we have to cleverly dodge enemy attacks.
  • A lot of story and a big world: Flintlock also wants to tell a story in the classic way with cutscenes and dialogues with choices. The open world is also supposed to have a lot to offer, three large continents await you, which you unlock bit by bit. There you will find side quests, secrets, treasures and more. So Flintlock is more than just action.

What makes the trailer special?

  • Gameplay: The trailer shows longer fight scenes in one piece for the first time and thus better answers the question of how Flintlock actually plays. The combos of axe attacks and pistol shots already look pretty cool. Now all that’s missing is a look at the story and dialogue.
  • The world: As Peter already pointed out in his preview linked above, one of the biggest selling points of Flintlock, namely the open world, has so far been rather lost in trailers. The new video, however, gives us a few new insights into the numerous fortresses, cities and areas that we can explore there and makes at least me quite curious.

    Editor’s Verdict

Flintlock had me curious earlier with its unusual style, mix of mythological-ancient elements, weapons and clothing that are more 18th century and classic fantasy. While I am not the biggest fan of action role-playing games, I was quite taken by this novel world and its dark story.

The new trailer now wants to show mainly the battle system, which also looks pretty nifty, but I’m more interested in what’s going on in the background. Because we finally see a few more locations of the big open world. And it looks really impressive with its large cities and huge temples. If there are interesting side quests, worthwhile secrets and cool optional bosses hiding here, Flintlock could also offer a lot for explorers like me.
