While the Bundesliga is still in the summer break and the pros are sweating in their training camps, there is finally first information about FIFA 23, starting with the traditional unveiling of the new cover star.
After the French world class striker Kylian Mbappé already appeared on the cover last year, he will get surprising support for the upcoming version.
For the first time in 30 years, a woman on the FIFA cover

Next to Kylian Mbappé, the current world champion and superstar of the French top team Paris Saint-Germain, you can see a woman on the latest FIFA cover.
But if you buy the standard edition, you won”t get to see both players: While the international cover features Mbappé for the third time in a row, the game with the female footballer on the cover is only available under special circumstances. Either you have to buy FIFA 23 in Australia or New Zealand or order it at Amazon – so you can put the cover with the player on your shelf in this country as well.
Who is the woman on the cover? The player”s name is Sam Kerr and she plays for the women”s team of Chelsea FC. The Australian striker is not only her country”s record goalscorer with currently 54 goals, but also a true world-class attacker.
In this country at least, it is the first time that a woman has made it onto the cover: although there was already an experiment in the USA in 2016, where the players Alex Morgan, Chrisine Sinclair and Stephanie Catley were featured on the American cover, it ultimately took six more years before a woman was also allowed to grace the international version.
It”s not just FIFA that wants to give women”s football more space: Football Manager also announced last year that women”s teams would be firmly integrated into the game in future and could not be switched off. A separate section was even created for this purpose
FIFA 23 is the last football game from EA Sports that is allowed to use the brand name of the football association – in the future you will have to put up with the name EA Sports FC.
