Many support players cannot understand the upcoming nerfs to the healers. A developer from Riot Games now explains why the heals have to be made weaker.

For quite some time now, many players have been bothered by dying too quickly in League of Legends. Overloaded champion kits and buffs over the course of the last few years have ensured that most champions simply deal too much damage. The developers want to counteract this situation in the upcoming 12.10 patch and are therefore adjusting both resistances and heals.

Coming harm reduction as a reason

All champions will get a nerf that will reduce heals and shields between 10-28%. This is partly because Riot Games doesn’t want champions to be immortal from now on.

In LoL developer Phlox’s Twitter post, he explains that the nerfs are necessary:

The Riot staff are well aware that this patch brings major changes. However, in order for the game to remain balanced, the heals will have to be generated. The reasons for this include:

  • Grievous Wounds will be revised
  • All champions get less damage
  • Sustain champions in particular can become too strong due to the patch
  • Too strong heals and shields can make champions virtually immortal

The rework of the anti-heal items is particularly interesting, although there is no more detailed information on them yet.
