The Year of the Griffin is coming to an end. Let’s welcome the Year of the Hydra in Hearthstone! The new year in the WoW card game celebrates its arrival on 12 April. We reveal what you can expect.

Instead of launching completely new game modes in the Year of Hydra, Blizzard is adding some new features to the ones you already know. These include general performance improvements for the game client, comfort improvements as well as new features in the mercenary mode. The latter has been expanded with a new mercenary in patch 23.0. Murloc Murky is available to you for free via the reward path. More new tasks, bounties and mercenaries will follow in the coming months. For players of a higher level, there will also be a new investment source for the mercenary coins. However, the Hearthstone developers will only reveal more about this in the course of the next few months. In any case, you can look forward to the first event: Journey to the Sunken City.

At the same time, there are some changes in the Hearthstone core set. While 52 cards have been removed from the deck for now, 72 have found their way into the set. This means that the upcoming core set consists of 250 cards – 15 more than the year before.

Last but not least, the most important sections of the battlefield mode will be divided into seasons. This way, changes can be better announced and, above all, made visible. The new Battleground Season awaits you in patch 23.2, and includes a new keyword mechanic, a new servant type and new heroes, in addition to a host of new content.

We will reveal some of the features of the Year of the Griffin in another message.
