25 years ago, Demon Summoner: Soul Hackers was released in Japan. Recently, ATLUS announced the second part. Now the developer presents more information about the plot and shares more images of the upcoming JRPG.
The plot of Soul Hackers 2 takes place in the middle of the 21st century and tells the story of the forces beyond human everyday life that try to avert the end of the world. On the one hand, there are the demon summoners, who use the abilities of demons away from society. On the other hand, the watchful eye of the consciousness Aion, born from data, rests over humanity. The consciousness, blessed with superhuman intelligence, foresees the end of the world, which is why it creates two autonomous splinters of itself. Ringo and Figue are supposed to find the two people who are supposed to avert the apocalypse. But they have already been killed.
Even though the two agents have immense abilities like the soul hack, they now have to team up with demon summoners. Whether they can avert the impending apocalypse together, however, depends on you alone.

To go into battle against the dark forces, Ringo and Figue are equipped with special equipment and abilities. Some of them are so mysterious that the agents themselves don’t quite see through them. One of them, for example, is the soul hack. With this skill, the souls of the deceased can be restored. In addition, the user can access the last moments before death. If regret is appealed in death, the dead can even be revived.
A useful tool of Soul Hackers 2 is the so-called COMP. This customisable device enables the summoning of demons. The agent Ringo also has such a COMP, which contains additional Aion technology and can equip demons directly. COMPS can be upgraded in the realms. These are areas away from the human world that only demon summoners can enter.
