Where do I start my streaming career? Maybe YouTube is the place to go. We take a look at it.

Secondly, there are actually only videos on YouTube and no streams, aren’t there? By now, most people know that this train of thought is a thing of the past. Only recently, big Twitch names like Ludwig switched exclusively to YT. But why should I stream on YouTube?

YouTube is the video platform – and more

More than two billion monthly users are a clear sign. On the video front, nothing passes YouTube by. And a lot has happened in livestreaming as well. A large livestream landscape formed via YouTube Gaming.

The big advantage: The close bridge between livestream and on-demand exploitation of content. If you stream, you quickly have your content as a video afterwards – which can also work separately. So you’re not only interesting when you’re live.

Accessibility – the be-all and end-all

A search function, the great chance to become known about niche topics and a great showcase through the algorithm are plus points for streams on YouTube. With the VoD function, there is even double the chance of being found even when you are offline.

Monetisation takes time

Whoever wants to monetise their content alongside ad revenue has to put in a bit more work than on Twitch. 4,000 hours of watch time and 1000 subscribers are the starting point for a membership option. But not so many users know about it yet.

One of the great advantages should please many streamers: YouTube’s ban policy is not as strict as that of its competitor Twitch. The Strike system gives advance warnings before channel bans occur

YouTube is not just for gaming

There is no clear winner in the battle of the streaming platforms from the user’s point of view. What is clear is that YouTube is not just about gaming content. That is the brand core of YT. On Twitch, on the other hand, the focus of users and creators is on video games.

The path to first money is also longer on Google’s video platform. In addition, there is the dependence on the algorithm. That is both a curse and a blessing. But neither platform makes it difficult to stream. The only way to find out which suits you better is to try it out for yourself.

We have also kept an eye on the questions: Why should you stream on Twitch?
