EA is trying to save the Battlefield franchise with new leadership and restructuring. Former CoD boss rushes to the rescue.

Respawn Entertainment studio chief Vince Zampella is to become the new head of the Battlefield franchise. This was announced (Gamespot) in an interview last Thursday.

Battlefield 2042 has been battling harsh criticism since its release in November. Now Electronic Arts and developer studio DICE have announced restructuring. The former general manager Oskar Gabrielson will leave DICE at the end of the year and devote himself to tasks outside of EA. Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella will then take over as head of the Battlefield franchise.

Most recently, Zampella was involved in the development of Apex Legends at Respawn Entertainment, which he will continue to work on. Zampella’s experience in shooter development goes back several years. As co-CEO of Infinity Ward, he was also involved in the creation of the very first Call of Duty in 2003. His last project was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in 2009.

Laura Miele, one of EA’s executives believes in Vince Zampella, she told Gamespot. She is sure that the US-American would be the right man for the job. No one knows more about shooters than him.
