The expansion to the action movie Top Gun: Maverick has to be postponed because the cinema release has been delayed again.

It will take longer than planned before you can recreate scenes from the new Top Gun.

The action movie Top Gun: Maverick is suffering from start-up problems and has to postpone its planned take-off again. That’s why Microsoft Flight Simulator players also need to be more patient – because the matching DLC will also be released later.

The expansion to Top Gun

When will it be released now? The new movie release date is May 27, 2022, and according to the official developer blogthe expansion will be released on the same date. Originally, the movie and DLC were supposed to come out on November 19, 2021.

What’s in it? The exact contents of the expansion have not yet been revealed – presumably also for spoiler reasons. It is already confirmed that the well-known F-18 fighter jet (“Hornet”) will be used. There’s also a first picture:

Does the DLC cost anything? No, the expansion is free for all players. You can simply download the update as soon as it is released.

What else happens in Flight Simulator?

The next planned DLC is the big DACH update, which adds new airports and around 100 landmarks to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It has also been postponed and will now be released on 7 September 2021. At gamescom there was a new trailer for the 6th World Update:

You can find all known info and patch notes on the new areas, planes and airports in our big overview.

And those aren’t the only new additions to the simulation – surprisingly, a PvP multiplayer was announced at gamescom, where you will compete against each other in daredevil races. The new mode is based on the real (and very spectacular) racing flights of the Reno Air Racing Association (RARA).
