The new WoW addon has been quiet for a long time, but now we finally have a date.
After the current World of Warcraft addon The War Within is slowly coming to an end story-wise, developer Blizzard is finally announcing a reveal date for the next one. World of Warcraft: Midnight will be unveiled as part of Opening Night Live at gamescom 2025.
Geoff Keighley’s traditional show will take place on August 19, 2025 from 8 pm time. It will last two hours and you can watch it on Twitch via the official gamescom channel or with us as part of our FYNG program.
It is not known exactly when the WoW segment will be shown during the show. Afterwards, it will continue on the WoW Twitch channel with a little bit of Indepth program and gameplay.
What will we see?
As the official WoW website reveals, we can expect a classic cinematic trailer for ONL, which will set the scene for the upcoming story and perhaps even give us a glimpse of the first major villain.
A first artwork already shows Voidwalker-like creatures:

Afterwards, the WoW Twit channel will continue with Executive Producer Holly Longdale, Senior Game Director Ion Hazzikostas and Warcraft Universe Creative Director Chris Metzen giving an overview of the addon. You may already be familiar with this type of presentation from various BlizzCons and previous add-ons.
Concretely, the following will be shown:
- Zones
- Gameplay mechanics
- new features
- Story
The highlight of the whole thing will most likely be the new housing system.
Try out the new housing feature at gamescom
If you are in Cologne, you can also try out the new housing feature for yourself at the Blizzard stand. According to Blizzard, you can build, decorate and customize a house yourself as part of a public demo.
You can find the WoW stand in Hall 8, although it is not yet known exactly where. Before the trade fair begins, it’s best to take a look at the official hall plan at GAMESCOM so that you don’t lose your bearings in the gigantic exhibition halls.
If you’re not there, you can also watch one or two streamers building on Twitch during the Creator Clash.
