Riot Games announces the return of the virtual band KDA with their new song “Firestarter” and a music video by Fortiche.
Riot Games is bringing the K-Pop girl group KDA back. It’s been six years since Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, and Kai’Sa performed together. Now the virtual band is back with their new song “Firestarter.” The track is accompanied by a music video from the creators of Arcane. So this is bound to be spectacular.
KDA is celebrating its comeback!
K-Pop is always a hit. You might disagree, but my world has definitely become a better place thanks to this extremely danceable Korean music. Has League of Legends made my life better, too? Maybe not through the gameplay itself, but definitely through the friendships that have formed—albeit indirectly—through this game.
And K-pop and League of Legends together should really be an absolute blast, right?
I’d say yes. The chorus, in particular, has a sound that just fits League of Legends. There are even a few lines in Korean here and there. Bold outfits and a truly wonderfully animated video, created by the talented team at Fortiche.
This time, the voices of the four champions are provided by MIYEON and SOYEON from (G)I-DLE, and Sophie Powers and Mimi Webb are also featured. However, this also means that Madison Beer and Jaira Burns didn’t sing for KDA this time.
“Firestarter” is the first song from an entire EP set to be released on October 21—this coming Wednesday.
In general, Riot Games has been experimenting quite a bit with virtual bands. It all started in 2014 with the metal band Pentakill. Karthus, Mordekaiser, Sona, Yorick, Olaf, Kayle, and Viego rocked some heavy riffs across the Rift.
KDA then made its debut in 2018. Just one year later, the hip-hop group True Damage followed, featuring Akali, Ekko, Senna, Qiyana, and Yasuo. Most recently, the pop boy band HEARTSTEEL made its debut. Its members include Ezreal, Sett, K’Sante, Kayn, Yone, and Aphelios.
