Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA will be released on February 25, 2027, for Nintendo Switch 2, featuring up to 120 FPS and GameShare.

NIS America and Falcom are releasing Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA on Nintendo Switch 2 on February 25, 2027. The two companies announced this on October 20, 2026, with an announcement trailer on NIS America’s official YouTube channel.

Up to 120 FPS and GameShare co-op

NIS America states that the Switch 2 version has a technical upper limit of up to 120 frames per second. Players can also use co-op support via GameShare, a feature of the Nintendo Switch 2, to embark on the adventure together with a second player—even on a different console. In this action JRPG, the hero Adol is stranded on a cursed island, where he builds a village with other castaways to face the island’s ruins and beasts. According to the announcement, the Switch 2 version will feature Spanish language support for the first time.

Ys VIII was initially released in July 2016 for the PS Vita, followed later by versions for PlayStation 4, PC via Steam, the original Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, and, in November 2022, for PlayStation 5. This marks the series’ first appearance on the Switch 2.

NIS America and Falcom have not yet announced a price for the Switch 2 version, nor have they indicated whether there will be an upgrade path for owners of the 2018 Switch version. The release date, February 25, 2027, is a good four months away.
