We were left in the dark at State of Play, but now Insomniac Games has announced a release date of September 2026.

In mid-February, fans waited in vain for an announcement about Marvel’s Wolverine at Sony’s State of Play, but developer Insomniac Games had already announced that the new action game would not be featured there. Some may have already imagined horror scenarios.

However, those concerns now appear to be unfounded, as the studio has provided what is arguably the most important piece of information. You can look forward to late summer, as the action game will be released in September.

Release date for Marvel’s Wolverine confirmed

Marvel’s Wolverine will be released on September 15, 2026, for PlayStation 5, just under two months before GTA 6, which has now introduced its own timeline.

The good news was announced by Insomniac Games in passing on their X account“To make a long story short: Marvel’s Wolverine launches on September 15, 2026.” Here is a link to PlayStation Store, where you can add the title to your wish list.

The whole thing is illustrated with just a 6-second clip showing artwork of the main protagonist, Wolverine. Anyone hoping for gameplay footage or other characters will have to be patient for a little while longer.

Before Wolverine came Spider-Man

Previously, Insomniac Games enriched the gaming landscape with a trilogy about another superhero: Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018), Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020), and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (2023), all of which were praised for their deep storylines, action-packed gameplay, and staging.

The series is particularly popular with Marvel fans for its respectful treatment of the original material. Expectations for the Wolverine adaptation are correspondingly high. We’ll see how well the studio succeeds in September.
