The action-adventure game 1348 Ex Voto takes you to Italy in the same year that you can read in the title. In other words, to the late Middle Ages, at the time of the plague. It is in the process of wiping out the whole of Europe, and you must set out in these uncertain times to rescue your friend Bianca. To do so, you take on the role of a knight named Aeta.
Graphically, the whole thing is very reminiscent of A Plague Tale, and the story surrounding the ongoing plague also follows in this vein. At one point in the trailer from gamescom, a cart is even being pushed, as is often done in Plague Tale. But in Ex Voto (which roughly means “because of a vow”), there is significantly more fighting. This is because Aeta is trained in sword fighting and knows how to defend herself. According to the developers, the fights were inspired by real fighting styles. During Aeta’s journey, you will also learn new maneuvers to bring even stronger opponents to their knees.
Ex Voto is scheduled for release in 2026.
