The Witcher 4 in Unreal Engine 5 – Unreal Fest will offer a first glimpse of what it could look like.

It has been known for some time that The Witcher 4 will run on Unreal Engine 5: CD Projekt Red announced a change in the technical framework for its games back in 2022.

We will probably find out what this might look like sooner than expected: The “innovative technology behind The Witcher 4 and subsequent projects” will be showcased at the State of Unreal 2025 tech show, according to the developers in a post via X (formerly Twitter).

And when is that? Well, tomorrow! State of Unreal will take place on June 3 at 3:30 p.m.

The accompanying screenshot from CD Projekt Red presumably shows a previously unknown part of The Witcher game worldand is likely to raise fans’ hopes that new details about The Witcher 4 will be revealed tomorrow.

At the show in Orlando, Unreal developer Epic is unveiling new live demos, features, and videos to showcase the latest capabilities of the upcoming UE5 generations. Epic writes:

At State of Unreal, you’ll get a first look at the latest tools and technologies we’re developing to give you more creative possibilities. You’ll also see live demos, new product releases, partner projects, and all the important news – live as it’s announced.

The tweet has certainly got Witcher fans excited: “I’m really excited! Even if it’s mainly an engine showcase, it’s still nice to see the progress on the game,” comments user Sevenblades.

The first cinematic trailer for The Witcher 4 was released in December 2024.

However, this does not mean that a release is imminent: The actual production phase only began at the turn of the year, so a release in 2027 or 2028 at the earliest is realistic.

We will, of course, report on the event and any new developments surrounding The Witcher 4.
