According to a leaker, Nintendo is planning customizable themes for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026
Compared to the PS5, Xbox Series X/S or even older Nintendo consoles, the home menu of the Switch and also the Switch 2 is pretty simple and rather “boring”. According to an insider, however, this is set to change next year.
The Switch 2 could get themes next year
The information comes from Spanish-speaking insider Nash Weedle, who regularly discusses rumors and background information on his X-Channel. In a new post he writes that he can now confirm that the Switch 2 will get themes for the start menu. But not this year.
Se había rumoreado, pero no lo comenté hasta ahora que puedo ponerle un ✅

However, the user does not share any further information on how such themes could look or function. Furthermore, these are currently only unconfirmed statements from one individual. They could be completely made up out of thin air.
A long-requested feature: The introduction of such themes would probably be very welcome among fans. Even with the first Switch, the lack of settings options for the home screen was repeatedly intensively discussed.
Many users would like to be able to decorate the start menu with their own animations, music or at least colors. However, there are also those who consider this to be superfluous, as in the best case scenario you only spend a few seconds in the menu.
This is how it looks with the competition: The home menus of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S can definitely be described as more dynamic than those of the Switch consoles.
On the PS5, for example, the background image changes depending on which game is currently selected. Background music is often played as well. In addition, an area of the menu can be personalized with a selection of animated themes.
For the 25th anniversary of the PlayStation, Sony is also bringing back the interfaces of all previous console generations as a special gift. So anyone who wanted to display their PS5 home screen in the style of the PS2 had the opportunity to do so.
Similar models would also be conceivable for the Nintendo Switch 2. Themes could be offered for free, distributed to pre-orders or simply sold in the store.
What do you think? Would you like themes for your Nintendo Switch 2?
