Lenovo has confirmed support for SteamOS on an official product page for the Legion Go 2 gaming handheld.
Lenovo officially unveiled a new version of its gaming handheld, the Legion Go Gen 2, last year. During a hands-on session at IFA 2025, our handheld expert Duy Linh Dinh was particularly impressed by the screen.
Lenovo has now officially confirmed that the handheld will support SteamOS.
Support for SteamOS and Windows Xbox FSE
Product images on the official product page for the handheld at Chinese retailer JD reveal information about the upcoming gaming handheld.
The supported system is particularly important for gamers. In addition to a specially adapted version of Windows 11, the handheld will also support Valve’s SteamOS.

The SteamOS logo and the Xbox logo can be seen on the product page. Lenovo also reveals that gamers can switch to “Windows Xbox FSE at the touch of a button.”
Good to know: Windows Xbox FSE is a specially adapted version of Windows that boots directly into the Xbox app and is designed to offer a console-like experience.

How this will work in practice is still unclear. For older Legion Go handhelds, Lenovo already offers instructions on how to install SteamOS.
The push-button reference seems to indicate that SteamOS could be the handheld’s main system. Switching to Windows would then be done with a single action.
It is also unclear whether players will then be able to switch back to SteamOS at the touch of a button.
