We have 5 reasons why you should be excited about The Outer Worlds 2!

Gone are the vague hints of the very first teaser; the story trailer for The Outer Worlds 2 shows the glorious chaos that awaits you in the Arcadia solar system!

Instead of coyly hinting that nothing is ready, the trailer reveals a world ravaged by factional warfare, a religious cult, and a corporate invasion, while you, as an agent of Earth, are tasked with investigating strange space-time rifts.

The trailer perfectly captures the game’s biting, satirical tone by touting the salvation of the galaxy as “an adventure made for capitalism by capitalism.” One thing is clear: the wacky humor is back, but this time in a world that’s bigger, crazier, and more dangerous than ever before.

Why The Outer Worlds 2 will be at least as awesome as the trailer suggests

To get you really excited about the upcoming game on October 29, we’ve thrown together the facts we already know, our conclusions, and obvious speculation to present you with 5 reasons to look forward to The Outer Worlds 2 right now!

1. A brand-new solar system to ruin

In the first game, you were already able to wreak havoc and let off steam in the Halcyon system. It will be no different in The Outer Worlds 2. Better yet, you’ll get a whole new system that is unsuspectingly waiting for you to mess it up.

This time, the new setting is the Arcadia system, complete with additional factions and tons of problems. In plain language, that means new planets to land on (or crash into), new alien creatures that probably want to eat you, and above all, new innocent NPCs whose fate you can seal with your questionable decisions.

2. A new crew to disappoint

What would a spaceship captain be without a colorful crew of wacky companions who question your orders and passively-aggressively condemn you for your actions? Right, just a lonely dude with a gun that’s too big. So boring!

The Outer Worlds 2 doesn’t let you play a boring character, though, and gives you a whole new crew, new weapons, and new enemies to stylishly take down with them.

Of course, this also means new personal quests in which you reluctantly interfere in private matters, new moral dilemmas that you will probably solve immorally, and new dialogues with extra sarcasm.

3. The same (but perhaps slightly darker) humor

The heart of The Outer Worlds was its unique, delightfully dark humor: a bitterly satirical take on unbridled capitalism—in space!

The latest trailer alone, in which your hero, as an elite agent, takes on tyrannical governments, greedy corporations, or even both, paints a wonderful picture of the game’s delightfully exaggerated atmosphere.

So expect absurd advertising slogans, tyrannical bureaucracy, and ruthless corporations that would sell your own organs to you with a smile.

Tip: If you want to experience the absurdly dark humor of the game in its purest form, be sure to check out the Amazon Prime miniseries “Secret Level.” Episode 9 is about The Outer Worlds.

4. More freedom of choice (for more disasters)

Games from developer Obsidian are famous for their depth and the consequences that result from the manifold decisions made by players. The Outer Worlds 2 aims to take this a step further.

In Arcadia, you’ll find a lot of factions and thus numerous opportunities to guarantee that you end up on the wrong side. So whether you support an up-and-coming religious cult or a money-hungry megacorporation in its dubious machinations, it will somehow influence the fate of the system.

And yes, if the predecessor serves as a benchmark here, every option will turn out terribly in its own charming way!

5. Here are the pros at work!

The best comes last: Perhaps the most important reason to look forward to The Outer Worlds 2 is clearly the name of the developer: Obsidian Entertainment.

This studio has already brought you some of the best role-playing games of all time.
These include gems such as the legendary Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity, and the wonderfully scandalous South Park games.
The developers at Obsidian are clearly experts in world-building, complex quests, and unforgettable, quirky characters. So you can rest assured that Obsidian will deliver once again.

The developers at Obsidian are clearly experts in world-building, complex quests, and unforgettable, quirky characters. So you can rest assured that Obsidian will once again deliver a deep and polished RPG experience.

That alone is reason enough to mark October 29, 2025, on your calendar. So make a note of the release date for The Outer Worlds 2! And remember that you can play the game on Xbox Series X|S, Steam & Windows, Xbox Game Pass, and PlayStation. Better yet, as a “Play Anywhere title,” you only need to buy it once and can then play it on Xbox consoles, Windows, and supported handhelds without limitation.
