The Invincible is an upcoming story game with a retro sci-fi scenario, where former developers of The Witcher, Cyberpunk and Dying Light want to prove with their own studio Starward Industries that they can tell an intense, non-linear story full of decisions and difficult moral conflicts in space – by the way, based on the classic sci-fi novel “The Invincible” by Stanislaw Lem,

What is known so far is that The Invincible will be released in 2022 for PC and consoles and relies on the Unreal Engine. It also features Jasnah, a new character who does not appear in the book. The biologist awakens on the hostile planet Regis III and must find her missing crew there. The adventure takes place from a first-person perspective and seems to rely on dialogue, puzzles and battles.

Hard choices, multiple endings

The new trailer gives further glimpses of the Atompunk style, which is inspired by the idea of space travel that was prevalent in the 1940s to 1960s. Spaceships, robots and equipment in the game follow this vision – much like Starfield. In The Invincible, however, the Cold War, which is currently splitting the Earth, also follows you into space, where Jasnah involuntarily becomes the plaything of political powers. Obviously, like in a role-playing game, you will meet different factions whose side we can take.

In addition, their personal problems will also present them with tricky decisions. Both will influence how the adventure will turn out. However, it will be a while before the developers show more of the gameplay and story. For this, the website already offers a (small interactive gimmick).
