Steam’s big Winter Sale is coming to an end, so we’re collecting some of the best RPGs before the discounts are gone.

The fact that we could almost go out into the fresh air in a t-shirt over New Year’s Eve proves it: Winter can be over quickly! And that applies just as much to the current Steam Winter Sale 2022, which closes its doors in a few days (on 5 January 2023). So we’re gradually approaching the final spurt – and for us that means one thing above all: We’re digging out a few cool offers for you.

Today with role-playing games! You love role-playing games, we love role-playing games – diving into great worlds, raising the stats of our avatar, completing quests, killing monsters, collecting experience points, you know the fun. Including some candidates that have never been reduced as much as they are now. So let’s get started.

Highlight of the Sale: Kingdom Come: Deliverance

(Genre: Open-World Role-Playing Game – Developer: Warhorse – Release: February 13, 2018 – Price & Discount: 7,50 Euro (reduced by 75 percent)

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is almost five years old again – actually, the successor should be unveiled soon. But be that as it may, the best role-playing games age like good wine, and that is exactly what Kingdom Come is. As the young blacksmith Heinrich, you become embroiled in an adventure that turns late medieval Bohemia upside down.

Kingdom Come’s greatest strength – similar to Gothic – has always been its atmosphere. You dive deep into the everyday life of the people, visit tens of detailed locations and choose for yourself whether your Henry is a noble warrior or a predatory a… – you know – is.

Kingdom Come has never been so heavily discounted as it is right now. For 7.50 euros you get the basic game, but we recommend buying the Complete Collection with all DLCs for 10 euros, because they expand the story with some nice bonus chapters. More on this in the video above.

More cool role-playing games in the Steam Sale

Not in the mood for historical medievalism? Then check out the rest of the candidates we’ve picked out for you:

  • (The Witcher 3): Yes, The Witcher 3 is reduced more often than Burger King’s King of the Month, but with the big next-gen update, the Witcher is more up-to-date than ever. For 10 euros (80 percent) you get the main game with all DLCs.
  • (Ruined King): The League of Legends universe has been proving for years that it can tell exciting stories beyond the moba world. Ruined King is one of the coolest pirate role-playing games of recent years. Reduced by 50 percent to 15 euros.
  • (Mass Effect: Legendary Edition): The remaster of the Mass Effect trilogy has also never been so strongly reduced as now. For 15 euros (75 percent) you get all three role-playing classics.
  • (Solasta: Crown of the Magister): You like it more classic? Solasta makes pen&paper fans’ hearts beat faster and is currently 65 percent off at only 14 euros.
  • (Kenshi): In no other role-playing game do you experience such crazy stories as in Kenshi – even though no one wrote them.

  • (Divinity: Original Sin 2): A true role-playing masterpiece. Divinity 2 is 60 percent off at 18 euros. Worth it!
  • (Tales of Arise): If you love JRPGs with a large game world, you can’t miss Tales of Arise. Discounted by 60 percent to 24 euros.
  • (Disco Elysium): The best gaming story of all time is also a really good role-playing game. For 10 euros you get the final cut.
  • (Grim Dawn): Are you in the mood for a really good Diablo alternative? Grim Dawn currently costs a measly 6 euros.
  • (Pathfinder: Kingmaker): The oldschool milestone is also more reduced than ever before. For 6 euros you get the Enhanced Plus Edition (70 percent).
  • (Octopath Traveler): You slip into the role of eight main characters and experience an unforgettable JRPG epic – for 24 euros (60 per cent).
  • (Dragon Age Inquisition): For 4 euros (88 percent) you get an open-world role-playing game in which you can lose yourself for over 100 hours. But don’t get bogged down in the hinterlands.
  • (Greedfall): This AA role-playing game has its rough edges, but comes up with a really unused modern-day scenario. The price: 10.50 euros (70 percent discount).
  • (Outward): If you love Gothic and have a lot of patience, you’ll find a rough hardcore role-playing diamond in Outward. For 14 euros you can get the Definitive Edition at 65 percent off.
